About Steven & The HENRYS Story

My name is Steven Henry, and my life changed overnight. Following a severe heatstroke event, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)—a diagnosis that flipped my world, and my family’s lives, upside down.

For two years, I navigated a maze of specialists, seeking answers for a terrifying array of symptoms: non-epileptic seizures, visual impairment, limb weakness, vertigo, and heart palpitations. While FND is more common than many realize, it is often misunderstood or overlooked in the medical world. I frequently felt rushed through appointments, left without a roadmap for recovery. It took my own relentless research and the refusal to give up to finally find the support I needed to get my life back on track.

A New Path Forward

Today, I am grateful to be functioning at a steady capacity—a far cry from the struggles of the last two years. However, FND has its costs. I’ve had to voluntarily step down from my career, as I can no longer safely perform my previous duties.

The uncertainty of FND symptoms creates a "nightmare scenario" for employment: how do you plan a career when you don't know how your body will feel from one hour to the next? But instead of accepting this, I decided to build my own future.

The Birth of HENRYS

During my recovery, my sanctuary was the local markets. There is something magical about the sunrise, the hunt for unique fashion, and the joy of my kids running around with their pocket money. It’s a community of people from all walks of life, and it’s the one thing that kept me sane.

I realized then that my passion could become my profession. I may be limited by a neurological disorder, but I am not defined by it. HENRYS was born from that realization.

• Convenience: We collect your unwanted clothing directly from your door, saving you the time and fuel of a trip to the donation center.

• Curation: We hand-select high-quality, pre-loved items to join our collection.

• Giving Back: To support others fighting the same battle I am, 5% of all profits are donated to FND research and support.

• Zero Waste: Any items not selected for our collection are delivered to an op-shop of your choosing, ensuring your wardrobe clear-out benefits the community and stays out of landfills.
